Today we took a drive out to the little village of Villedieu
des poeles where there is a working copper foundry. It was market day so when we arrived there
were lots of stalls full of al kinds of things, fruit, veggies, sausages,
seafood, cheeses…etc
Unfortunately it was lunch time so the foundry was closed
and would be for several hours, so what else could we do but find lunch of our
own. We picked a little creperie and had
a nice lunch with a couple of crepes for dessert.
We had a lovely conversation with the waitress who asked if
we were Canadian and asked if we had ever had a “que de castor” as she had
visited Canada a couple of years ago and while staying with friends they had
her try a Beavertail. I said of course
as they are from Ottawa. It turns out
she stayed in Gatineau…small world.
