We got up this morning and headed out in search of bakery or
a creperie…given that it was a holiday in France many stores and restaurants
were closed so that limited our choice.
What we did find was a storefront location for a bakery, Dalloyau that has been
making fine pastries and macaroons since the 1600s…my blood sugar is really a
bouncing rubber ball on this trip but what the heck…it was open and we hadn’t
found much else that was… chocolate cake and macaroons for breakfast…um…ok…we’ll
consider the macaroons to be eggs…meringue…and well chocolate is heart healthy
right???? So Peter had chocolate ones and I the had salted caramel ones …I must
say I have always thought I liked chocolate above any other sweet but I am
really finding that salted caramel is it for me…whether it’s ice cream, on
crepes or macaroons…mmm…
After our sugar shock breakfast we headed out and then came
across Starbucks...we’ll we decided that a tea was in order…
Now we headed out to our intended destination…the D’Orsay
Museum…when we arrived the line up was around the building…no problem we were
told to go to the priority entrance…we went straight in…after our bags were
searched and patted down/walked through a metal detector…we went through a door
…and this was where the visit headed south…we were approached by a guard and
told we could not bring any bags (we had Peter’s camera bag inside his camera,
flash, lens and my mac book) we pointed to other visitors who also had bags and
they weren’t being told that they couldn’t bring them…the rude guard told us
that he wouldn’t let us in with it and told us we’d have to check it
downstairs…that so wasn’t happening…particularly when we went down stairs and
saw there was no real security or claim system and decided the bag had too much
equipment in it so what else could we do? We walked out and decided to walk
over to the Louvre…we figured as we only had a couple of hours the day before
we’d go back and take ur time and see the whole museum…
After several hours we were satisfied and decided to find
our way back to our hotel and grab the car so that we could return to Normandy…
We are planning on returning to Paris for a couple of nights
at the end of our trip…
